The bad:
Grip shifter rubber rotted. Gooey sticky mess. Was scraped off.
Planet gear carrier/cage was broken in 3 places and slightly bent. This part is not repairable.
Missing 1 of 2 pawl springs that fit within the planet gear carrier/cage. My guess is that missing spring caused the failure. Only 1 pawl would engage and caused the parts to rack and bind up. Crack! There was no trace of the missing spring in the hub. My guess is it was left out at the factory. No sign the hub had ever been taken apart before.
I have not been able to find replacement parts. One shop claimed they could fix it for $140 labor Plus parts (if they even have the parts). Add the cost of a new shifter and it's not worth it for me to fix this bike. This hub, cables and shifter were removed from the bike and the bike is being reconfigured from a 3x9 to a 1x9.
The rest of the parts are in okay condition.
